Theresa Ruth Moffett Moody “Aunt Tea” transitioned peacefully from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on March 29, 2017.
She was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on April 28, 1923 to Joseph and Christina Moffett.
She graduated from Central High School and later attended Prairie View A&M University. After college, she became a certified barber. She was united in holy matrimony with Arthur 65 years ago. She was a member of Wilbur Chapel United Methodist Church in Hitchcock, Texas in her younger years and later joined McKinney Memorial United Methodist Church.
She had a love for the fabulous life that she lived showing love to all who came across her path.
Theresa leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Arthur; loving son, Thornton (Mary) Lewis; special and devoted nieces, Kim (Dan) Johnson and Jacqueline Johnson; nephews, James (Brenda) Ross, Clarence (Jean) Sims, Joseph (Angie) Moffett, Jr. and the one that always brought joy to her life – Anthony “Bubba” (Brenda) Gallop; grandchildren, Tonya (Roy) Lewis, Thornton Lewis, Jr., Portia (Kenneth) Coleman; great-niece and diva glam partner, Katrina Joiner; close great-niece, Kiara Gallop; close great-nephews, Anthony Gallop, Jr., Ronnie Bell, Jr. and Clarence Walker, Jr.; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Thomas of Miami, Florida, sister-in-law, Cleo Moffett, six great-grandchildren and a host of great- and great-great nieces and nephews in Texas and Louisiana along with special friends, Flo, Elvira, Eloise, Inez and Martha.
The family extends sincere thanks to Mainland Medical Center on the 3rd floor and Emergency Room and Clear Lake Regional Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit and Heart Tower on the 4th floor and A-Med Hospice Care.
There will be a Public Visitation Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 9:00 am followed by a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00 am.
