On December 20, 2008, Eugene “Gene” Rideaux left his earthly home at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas. He was born on August 24, 1943 in Bunkie, Louisiana to the proud parents of Venel and Gladys Rideaux. Gene was a retired truck driver and a resident of Galveston and Texas City, Texas. His passion for life was fishing, cooking and being in the company of family and friends. He was well known for throwing down on the BAR-B-QUE Pit where everyone was full and happy. Eugene was a caring husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great grandfather. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Venel and Gladys Rideaux one son Christopher (Peanut) Rideaux, one sister Delores Rideaux, stepchildren Tamara Joyce Martin and Raymond Martin. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Annie Martin-Rideaux, two sons Mark Rideaux and Nathaniel Rideaux, four stepchildren Paula Martin-Lynch (Fred), Denise Singleton, Angela Martin, Cleveland Martin, and Kenneth Jones all of Galveston, Texas; one brother Richard Rideaux of Bunkie, Louisiana, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bettie Joyce Nellums
Mrs. Bettie Joyce Childs-Nellums, daughter of the late B.T. and Estaline Childs, departed this life on December 13, 2008 surrounded by her family and dear friends. Bettie Joyce was born in Galveston, Texas on August 13, 1940. She graduated from Central High. She later went on to attend Prairie View in pursuit of Dietary studies. Bettie Joyce returned to Galveston where she worked many years at Central High School. She later married, moved to La Marque and embarked on a dietary career for many years. Bettie Joyce was preceded in death by her father B.T. Childs Sr.; mother Estaline Childs; brother B.T. Childs Jr.; Samuel Leon Childs, Sr. She is survived by the following family members: her loving husband of 31 years, Billy Nellums; daughters Semona R. Childs of CT and Yolanda Y. Childs of CT; two beautiful grandchildren Tierney O. Childs of La Marque and Hali Watkins of WA. Bettie Joyce’s beautiful smile will be surely missed by her two great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. We wish to express a heart felt love and thanks to our departed loved one’s faithful friends and family particularly Mae E. Ferguson Childs, Janice Bell, Ruby Nellums, Jeanet Calgone, Barbara Jones, and in loving spirit and memory – Doris Gilmore.

Charles H. Hoskins
This is a celebration of the life of Charles Haywood Hoskins. Charles arrived on this earth on April 22nd 1952. He was born to Charles M. and Barbara P. Hoskins in Kingfisher, Oklahoma at 6:30 PM. Charles was a very compassionate and caring child. He enjoyed experimenting with chemistry sets and playing with the family dog. He graduated high school at the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore Oklahoma in 1970. He briefly attended Prairie View A&M University before joining the Air Force. He was stationed in Spain where he met his future wife Natividad Gabarri. Charles and Natividad were married on September 5th 1974. Four children were born as a result of this union. He is preceded in death by his father Charles M. Hoskins. Mourning his memory are wife Natividad Hoskins, son Charles H. Hoskins and wife Dana, daughters Lola Hoskins Craig and husband Donald, Natividad Hoskins Greely and husband Barron, Barbara P Hoskins and Ashley Jaqueline Hoskins, Mother Barbara P. Hoskins, and six grandchildren. Further survived by aunts, uncles, host of close friends and relatives. Charles passed away peacefully on November 11th 2008 at 2:35 PM.

Goldie Danza’ Jones was born on July 8, 1982, in Galveston, Texas to Carolyn Hamilton and Donnie Hamilton. She attended public schools in Galveston and Texas City. Goldie was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She departed this life on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her great great-grandmother Nellie Carter, grandmother Bessie Hamilton, grandfathers Robert Jones and Charlie Whitfield, uncle Robert Jones Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories her son Marceze Jones; sisters Crystal Jones and Tia Hamilton; brothers Kai Hamilton, and Daman Gee; nephews Mchale Jackson and Markez Demyers; god-daughters Asia and Harmony; a devoted friend Alarick Cotton; and a host of relatives and friends. Felix Holloway, 72 passed away on October 1, 2008. He was born on December 8, 1935 in Eagle Lake, Texas. He attended school in Galveston at Old Central. He worked for 10 years at UTMB Mental Health Ward and at Walter Pye’s for 30 years. Mr. Holloway is preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Lillie Mae Holloway; sister, Pearlane Jackson, brother, James Davis; sons Kenneth and Felix Frank.
