Lillian Mae Smith

On Wednesday, February 25, 1942, God entrusted Willie Lee and Isa lee Young with a beautiful gift, whom they named Lillian Mae Young. She was one out of ten children. She grew up and attended high school at Booker T. Washington in Texas City.

Lillian met and married the love of her life Aris Henry Smith, Sr., in Texas City where they established their roots and raised six children. Lillian loved being a wife and mother. She worked for Texas City ISD as a custodian where she later retired. She was a very kind-hearted and compassionate person and she would warm your heart with just a smile. Lillian brought joy and laughter to those she encountered, she never met a stranger and her friendly persona endeared her to many. Lillian loved and enjoyed spending quality time with her family.

Lillian will be remembered by the many lives she touched throughout her lifetime. On Saturday, December 14, 2019 Lillian gained her wings in La Marque. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee and Isalee Young; husband Aris Henry Smith, Sr.; daughter, Rita Smith; siblings, four brothers : Willie “Bo” Young, Bobby Lee “Jimbo” Young, Chris “Gabe” Young, Tommy Joe Young and one sister: Alma Dean Young; and one grandson, Aris “Nathan” Smith.

Mourning her departure, yet cherishing her memory are her loving devoted children, three sons: Aris Henry Smith, Jr of Austin, Verril Young of Texas City and Perry Smith of Texas City, two daughters: Marilyn Yvette Smith -Walker and Michelle Smith both of Texas City; siblings, one sister: Betty Young of Texas City; three brothers: Pervis Young, Charles Young and Bobby Joe Young all of Texas City. She also leaves this legacy of love to her loving 12 grandchildren and numerous great and great -great grandchildren. Lillian will also be sincerely missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a service to celebrate her life at 11:00 a.m.  Both events will be held at the chapel of Bay Area Funeral Directors – 5410 FM 1765 (facing Highway 3) in Texas City, Texas 77591.  409-933-4300.  All memorials may be sent to the funeral home.
