David Carl Bryant was born on August 24, 1956 in Galveston, Texas to Alberta Bryant. David was an only child and was doted on by his loving grandmother, Mary Bryant. David was affectionately called “Boo” or “Boo Henry” by his family. Although he was an only child, he grew up with his first cousins, “Squeaky”, “Tony” and “Bay”. They shared many fond memories of spending time together in the summer and regular visits to the country in Willis, Texas. He attended public school in Galveston and later became a laborer. David loved fashion and often took pride in his custom-tailored suits and his starched clothing. David loved spending time in Trinity, Texas, which at times became his second home. There in Trinity, several relationships were formed.
David was recently diagnosed with cancer and of course, in David’s fashion, he decided to do things his way. He opted undergoing any treatment. He lost his battle with cancer on November 10, 2020. He is preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Epps; his grandmother, Mary Bryant; his uncle, William Bryant and his cousin/friend, Ira Dean Simmons.
David is survived by his aunt, Helen Shields, whom he often referred to as “Mama”; his aunts, Clara Lefton (and husband, Richard), Linda Bryant and Georgia May Williams; his uncle, William Bryant, also known as “Shot” (and wife, Darlene) and Odise Bryant, also known as “Buck” (and wife, Katie); his goddaughter, Kristian “Krissy” Kennedy, who was indeed the love of his life; his cousins, “Squeaky”, “Tony”, “Bay”, “DD”, “Ester”, “Tree” and “Harold Lee” and a host of other relatives and friends.
David’s memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the chapel of Bay Area Funeral Directors located at 5410 FM 1765 (facing Highway 3) in Texas City, Texas 77591. 409-933-9300. All memorials may be sent to the funeral home.
