Rodney Joseph Gilmore Sr.

Oh what a wonderful day, September 9, 1958 in Fort Worth, Texas, the Lord blessed the union of Emanuel Harvey Gilmore and Rosie Lee Jones Gilmore with a precious baby boy, they named Rodney Joseph Gilmore. They moved to California to raise their family. He was taught the love of Christ, honor, respect, hard-work and the importance of family principles while still young.

Rodney was educated in the public schools of California. He graduated from Lindhurst High School with the class of 1977. Following high school and ready to begin a new chapter in his life, he returned to Texas in search of work. His work career would led him to Clear Creek Independent School District. He gave diligent service for thirty years retiring after 30 years.

Rodney was fun and loving; his persona endeared him to many people. Therefore he never met a stranger if you were in his presence he made you feel welcome. He loved to entertain people with his cooking. He loved Barbequing and collecting “What Knots”.  Rodney rededicated his life to Christ becoming a member of Internal Hope Fellowship Church under the pastoral leadership of George Burrell. He will be missed by many.

Rodney Joseph Gilmore, Sr. passed from this life into his eternal life on November 20, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel Harvey and Rosie Lee Gilmore; his brother, Emanuel Gilmore, III and other loved ones.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his soulmate and wife, Pamela Wyatt Gilmore; children, Rodney Gilmore, Jr., Stephen Gilmore, Dylan Gilmore, his children through marriage, Dyniesha Rainey and Daniel Pradia; grandson, Colin Gilmore; siblings, Carolyn Gordon, Gayle Gilmore, Stephanie Holmes, Rhoda Gilmore, Donelle Berry, Timothy Gilmore, David Gilmore and Stephen Gilmore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, family and friends.

There will be a public visitation held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 9am with a chapel service to begin at 11am.  Services will be held at Bay Area Funeral Directors located at 5410 FM 1765 (facing hwy 3) Texas City, Texas 77591.
