Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, Sheila Patrice Bowden began her earthly journey on January 14, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. This precious baby girl was born to the union of Otis Bowden and Alloria Renfro Bowden. This blessed youngest addition completed the Bowden children’s circle of four. Although petite and small in nature, she did not let her stature limit who she would become. She always challenged herself to be better. With her big, beautiful eyes and her vibrant personality, Sheila made an impact during her 62 years of life. Endowed with a calming spirit, a compelling laugh, a kind heart, and a beautiful smile, her friendly persona endeared her to many people throughout her life.
She was educated in the public schools of Los Angeles, at the age of 14 Sheila would live out every girl’s dream at her age. She was chosen to be one of the dancers on “Soul Train”. The episodes she danced in can still be seen on You Tube. The family moved to Beaumont, Texas where Sheila’s focus turned to education. Specifically early childhood training. She then moved to Cupertino, California. She would begin her professional career in city government. She would concentrate on her work while she invested in her community for fifteen years emerging as one of the Supervisors. Sheila returned back to Texas, where she would begin her final phase of her professional career with the City of Texas City government officialdom. She gave valuable service while connecting and cultivating to becoming a vital part of church events, political decisions, and civic activities for the betterment of her community for fifteen years before her retirement.
Sheila lived a full, fruitful, sky lit life. She was loved and will greatly be missed. Sheila Patrice Bowden transitioned from this life on July 8, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved son, Brandon Joseph Bowden; brothers, Otis Jean Bowden and Ronald Craig Bowden; grandson, Dakota Marquez Bowden; sister in law, Sheila Pitre Bowden, and other loved ones.
Her beautiful life fragrance will always remain in the hearts of her beloved family, her love and ever constant companion, Albert Smith; brother, Wendell Bowden; daughter in law, Tori Bowden; sister in law, Lydia Bowden; grandchildren, Brandon Bowden, Jr., and Ja’Quard Joseph (Alisha); great-grandchildren, Lillanna Joseph and Ja’Quard Joseph, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Ashley Bowden, Ronald Craig Bowden, II, and Teddrick Barley (Michelle); aunts, Azzie Lee Hunter and Shirley Renfro; God-children, Chris Steward, Michael Steward, Katrine Steward, Zaelen Munoz and Deloni Munoz; a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a public visitation held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11am and a chapel service to begin at 1pm. Services will be held at Bay Area Funeral Directors.
