Cleo Hunter Obituary (1954 - 2023)

Cleo Hunter, age 69, loving mother of three, passed away September 12.2023 surrounding by loved ones at her bedside. Everyone that had the pleasure of knowing Cleo would agree that she was charismatic, funny, and knew how to cook. Cleo was one of the cornerstone pieces in the Hall family. Cleo had many talents including dancing and singing. She had an infectious smile that could light up a room. Cleo was born January 26, 1954, in Galveston, TX and grew up surrounded by a large family that adored her. She was class of 1972. Cleo continued her education at Galveston College and completed the SIR program. Motherhood was Cleo's main priority; she was a stay-at-home mother most of her life but worked briefly at the Health of Human Service office as a caseworker. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends especially her devoted son Charles Hunter. We know that we can't have you here physically but we're happy knowing the angels finally called you home. This is not goodbye but see you later. In her early years Cleo shared a partnership with Moses Hunter. She is survived by her three children, Moses Hunter (Spanky), Molecia Hunter (Lay-Lay), La Gloria Willis (T-bird), and Charles Hunter (Smurf). Cleo was predeceased by her mother Warretta Willis (Tony), and her father Charles Petteway. Cleo grandparents were Celestine Hall and Johnny Mae Shaw, Grandfather James Hall and sister Wendy Petteway. Cleo surviving siblings are Brock Petteway, Leon Petteway, Charles Petteway, Yolanda Elaine Hall. Uncles and Aunties include Anthony Hall, Melvin Hall (Tudy), James Hall, and Gloria Preacher. The funeral services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Bay Area Funeral Directors, 5410 FM 17625, Texas City, TX, 77591.
